Notes:
Most of the MSW and Geothermal emissions consist of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) -- geothermal carbon dioxide emissions are 0.3 to 0.4 million metric tons per year.
The balancing item accounts for other differences between the national-level inventory and state-level emissions calculations totals.
Some of the difference is caused by adjustments that were made at the national level, but were more difficult to make at the state level.
