Notes:
- This data has been discontinued.
- Average Mine Price is calculated by dividing the total free on board (f.o.b.) mine value of the coal produced by the total production. Excludes silt, culm, refuse bank, slurry dam, and dredge operations. Excludes mines producing less than 10,000 short tons, which are not required to provide these data.
- Real price data are calculated using implicit Gross Domestic Product deflators * by Virginia Center for Coal and Energy Research, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blacksburg, Virginia 24061-0411.
- Nominal dollar prices represent average prices in effect during the year in question. Real dollar prices have been calculated by using the implicit price deflator to represent the effects of inflation.
