Productivity (short tons per miner hour) is calculated by dividing the total coal production by the total direct labor hours worked by all mine employees engaged in production, preparation, processing, development, maintenance, repair, and shop or yard work at mining operations. Calculation excludes mines producing less than 10,000 short tons and preparation plants with less than 5,000 employee hours, which are not required to provide this data.
Totals may not equal sum of components due to independent rounding.
